CHEER TRYOUTS

Interested in joining our program? Tryouts for next season are in April!

We are so excited for our 2024-2025 season.

How to register for tryouts:

Step 1: Fill out the Registration Form

Step 2: Sign up for Cheerleading in Final Forms and make sure you have a physical on file to participate in Clinics/Tryouts. (Final Forms will open April 1) https://marietta-oh.finalforms.com/

Step 3: Sign up for and complete an interview. Interview times will be available at the pre tryout meeting. If you cannot attend that meeting, please email mariettacheer@gmail.com to get a time.

• Grades (Can print out Infinite Campus grades)

Step 4: Send the Teacher Evaluation to a teacher who teaches a core class. (No electives like choir, yearbook, teaching assistant, etc). Send this link to a teacher and have them complete the form. Must be completed by the day prior to tryout day.

Step 5: Turn in the signed waiver.

Step 6: Go to tryouts!

Here is some important information for athletes and parents:

Time & Location:

• Pre Tryout Parent and Athlete Meeting will be April 9th at 6:00PM
• A tryout packet will be available at the Pre Tryout meeting and then will be posted on the tryout forms page after.
• Official Tryouts for High School are April 15 & 16 for clinics from 6:00-7:30pm and final tryouts will be April 18th. Each athlete will be given a 15 minute tryout slot between 6:15pm and 9:00pm.
• Official Tryouts for Junior High School are April 17, 19, 20.
• Location for all clinics, and tryouts: The Cheer Building, 730 Glendale Road.
• Athletes must wear appropriate clothing and bring water.
• Team Placement Meetings for High School- April 19th 3:00-4:30PM
• Team Placement Meetigs for Junior High- April 20th Time TBD

ATHLETES WITH CONFLICTS OF CURRENT SPRING SPORTS PLEASE REACH OUT IN ADVANCE SO WE CAN WORK WITH YOUR SCHEDULE.

What to Wear to Tryouts:

• White T shirt or tank top, black athletic shorts/spandex, cheer or athletic shoes, sports bra
• No Marietta Cheer attire is to be worn at tryouts!
• Hair up and out of athlete’s face, with bow or ribbon.
• Nails must be shorter than fingertip length.
• Absolutely no jewelry

Tryout Process:

You’ll be evaluated on the following:

• Performance style dance (15 points)
• Sideline (10 points)
• Cheer (10 points)
• Jumps (Toe touch, Hurdler, Pike) (15 points)
• Standing tumbling (10 points)
• Running tumbling (10 points)
• Coaches Evaluation (10 points)
• Teachers Evaluation (10 points)
• Interview score (5 points)
• Correct Appearance (5 points)

Important dates after teams are announced:

• April 21st – Mandatory HIGH SCHOOL parent & athlete meeting, 6:00pm MHS Gym
• TBD- Mandatory HIGH SCHOOL uniform fitting at the Cheer Building
• TBD – Mandatory JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL parent & athlete meeting,
• May 1st- Camp wear $ Due
• TBD – Mandatory JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Uniform fitting
